BBC announces marketing review

The BBC has announced it is to conduct a review of its marketing operations.

Sharon Baylay, director of marketing, communications and audiences at the broadcaster, is to lead the overhaul.

The aim of the move is to look at the BBC's future marketing requirements and Ms Baylay described it as an "opportune moment to review how and what marketing delivers to the BBC and its audience".

She added that it is part of a strategic evaluation that is currently being undertaken across the corporation in order to ensure the BBC provides a "clear and compelling vision for marketing in the future".

According to Brand Republic, this is the first time such as move has been undertaken in six years, with the process expected to take around 20 weeks.

Last November, the BBC chose ZenithOptimedia to oversee the global media account for its BBC Worldwide division, a contract that is worth approximately £30 million.ADNFCR-2176-ID-19565609-ADNFCR
