Burberry makes global media planning appointment

Those seeking creative jobs might be interested to learn that Burberry has appointed Universal McCann (UM) for its global media planning and buying business.

According to a story in Campaign, the £2 million Burberry account will be handled by UM following a successful pitch.

The news comes as the fashion brand seeks to consolidate its business globally and regionally.

In addition, it will seek to make greater use of digital media in the wake of the appointment of Simon Gresham Jones - previously at Microsoft - as its head of digital operations.

Currently, the company's website allows consumers to purchase a range of fashion items ? from men's accessories to children's clothes.

All of the brand's creative works will remain in house under the guidance of its chief creative officer Christopher Bailey.
