Chelsea Flower Show "amazing inspiration for designers"

21 May
The Chelsea Flower Show is a great place to look for aspiring fashion designers, one expert has suggested.

Julien Macdonald, who attended the event wearing items from American Apparel, Gucci and Dior Homme, told Vogue.com that as well as being a "fun" event that is rich in history, it can also help with new ideas.

"It's amazing inspiration for designers," he remarked. "Designers have a love for colour and here you get to see the most mad combinations put together."

Macdonald was among the celebrities given a preview of some of the gardens on display before the event got underway, along with Paul Smith, Stephen Jones and Sienna Miller.

Arguably the most relevant award given out at Chelsea this year for fashion designers was the florist of the year prize, which went to Design Element's Neil Whittaker.

The multi-time Interflora florist of the year winner designed a hat for the show, which can be viewed on his official website.ADNFCR-2176-ID-19180463-ADNFCR
