Colourful prints 'to be in fashion next year'

02 Oct
Colourful prints are one of the new trends to emerge from New York Fashion Week, one magazine has observed.

The event, which took place last month, featured a number of big designers showing off their designs for next year's spring and summer seasons.

And one of the most popular new looks was "clashing prints" said Avril Mair, fashion features director of Elle UK, who described the show as being "exceptionally colourful".

She noted that techno, tribal and floral prints were all on display, while bright colours and neons have been used to update the safari-style print.

"Other trends coming through were very short shorts, flat Japanese-inspired sandals, colourful or nude booties [and] the colour red," Ms Mair commented, adding that classic American clothing such as khakis and chinos are also set to be popular.

The fashion week, which was sponsored by Mercedes-Benz, featured shows from designers such as Phillip Lim, Marc Jacobs and Ralph Lauren.ADNFCR-2176-ID-19389873-ADNFCR
