Demand 'steady' for digital marketing data

There is an established market for data that can be used to carry out marketing campaigns on social media websites such as Twitter, one expert has noted.

Mayank Bawa, chief executive officer and co-founder of information analysis company Aster Data, explained that firms who collect and sell on information that is used by marketing firms as part of their digital strategy are taking a "sensible" approach.

"There are already very large companies that do this and make a lot of money," he remarked, adding that demand for such services is set to increase in the future.

Mr Bawa was commenting after it emerged that the micro-blogging service is set to record a profit for the first time during 2009.

It has received payments of around $15 million and $10 million from Google and Bing respectively for allowing its content to be listed in the real-time search results of these two portals.ADNFCR-2176-ID-19533257-ADNFCR
