Former Bebo chief handed Facebook role

In news that may interest anyone seeking creative jobs, former chief executive of Bebo Joanna Shields has been hired by Facebook to become its vice-president of business development and sales for Europe.

According to a report in Marketing Magazine, she will be tasked with building the social networking site's brand across the continent.

Before being handed the new role, Ms Shields was previously president of people platforms at AOL - among other creative jobs.

Also, Facebook's current European commercial director Blake Chandlee has been appointed vice-president of sales for emerging markets for Eastern Europe, Asia Pacific and Latin America.

Ms Shields will return to the UK for the position, where she was located during her time at Bebo.

She arrives from her current role at the ShineVu digital media venture where she has been for a few months.
