Good weather 'will boost fashion retail sales'

15 Jul
The recent good weather is likely to have boosted sales at high street fashion retailers, it has been suggested.

According to Richard Dodd, spokesperson for the British Retail Consortium, the hotter temperatures of the past few weeks may have resulted in more shoppers purchasing summer clothing.

"We've got new figures coming out which will show the extent to which the very sunny weather in June into July has boosted fashion retailing again," he stated, adding that the rising temperature may well have given sales "another lift".

Mr Dodd also noted that there is a growing trend among customers to use the internet to compare the prices of fashion items, adding that many buyers are "shopping around very meticulously" in order to save money.

A recent survey by Datamonitor found that over half (53 per cent) of respondents feel it is important to look their best in their day-to-day lives, despite the current economic crisis.ADNFCR-2176-ID-19266834-ADNFCR
