London 'is the world's fashion capital'

29 May
The wide range of designer shops and boutiques that can be found in London make it the "fashion capital of the world", it has been claimed.

Sairey Stemp, fashion editor at Cosmopolitan magazine, noted that increased investment from international designers means the capital's fashion industry is thriving despite the recession.

"There are lots and lots of boutiques popping up around the Mount Street area," she stated, something that may interest those searching for fashion and retail jobs.

Ms Stemp noted that the Shoreditch area and the new Westfield centre are a "great draw" for shoppers, adding that many fashion designers are seeing the city as a "very important destination" ahead of the forthcoming London Fashion Week.

Earlier this month, a survey by Clothes Show London revealed that the capital is the UK's most stylish city, beating off competition from Manchester, Birmingham and Liverpool.

Of those that took part in the poll, 28 per cent described it as the most fashionable city in the UK followed by Manchester, which gained 24 per cent of the vote.ADNFCR-2176-ID-19192431-ADNFCR
