Maxi dresses to remain popular, says fashion expert

13 Jul
Maxi dresses are going to remain popular among women this summer, it has been suggested.

Speaking at 10 Years Younger Live in London, fashion editor at the Times Lisa Armstrong predicted that the dress will be a "stayer" over the coming months.

She stated that they popular among celebrities such as Drew Barrymore, who wears then in "simple, pale colours" with a "fabulous" necklace.

However, Ms Armstrong, who is also a contributing editor at British Vogue, urged women to "look out for dresses that don't have too much fabric".

"Otherwise it can look like a tent," she remarked.

It is still popular for women over 40 to wear maxi dresses, the fashion expert said, provided they "cover it up a bit" by using accessories such as a cardigan or belt in order to give the dress more shape.

Cereal brand Special K recently published research revealing that British women spend up to £650 million on summer outfits that do not fit correctly due to the weight they have put on over the winter months.ADNFCR-2176-ID-19261318-ADNFCR
