News International launches internet marketing review

News International has began the search for a new digital creative agency to promote its newspapers on the internet.

According to Media Week, the firm - which owns the Sun, the News of the World and the Times - is reviewing its social media, pay-per-click, search and affiliate business.

It currently uses the services of WCRS and Mindshare and, in the year to September 30th 2009, invested £48 million in marketing, data from Nielsen shows.

The news source noted that the brief for the account is believed to include overseeing the business's first dedicated social media strategy, as well as handling its, and Dream Team fantasy football sites.

News International's parent company, the Rupert Murdoch-owned News Corporation, said earlier today that its revenue climbed ten per cent in the last quarter.

Last year, Mr Murdoch said that he plans to introduce a charging system for accessing the content of his newspapers online by the end of 2010.ADNFCR-2176-ID-19595081-ADNFCR
