Online marketing 'set to grow'

Online video advertising may be set to increase as marketers adjust to a growing willingness among consumers to watch content on the web.

This is according to chief executive of the Internet Advertising Bureau Guy Phillipson who, noted that surfers are now "very used" to viewing video over the internet.

"TV-like advertisements are going to appear more and more online," he explained, adding that there has been a 195 per cent year-on-year increase in the amount spent on video marketing via the web.

Mr Phillipson said that it is an "inescapable" fact that 25 per cent of advertising spending is now invested in the internet, a market that "didn't really exist" a decade ago.

However, he predicted that this will not result in the death of television advertising, stating that this sector will be "pretty resilient".

Last week, research from Deloitte suggested that the amount spent on online marketing will exceed the total sector this year and continue to increase its market share.ADNFCR-2176-ID-19576035-ADNFCR
