£55Million scheme encourages investment in arts and culture

05 Jul

Design News:

A new Government advisory panel has pledged it will match up to £5million from its Endowment Fund to organisations which find match funding through private investors and donations.

The panel is chaired by (former) Tory MP Michael Portillo and it is part of a much larger £100milion scheme which encourages philanthropy from the private sector. This larger scheme is also supported by various long standing organisations, such as the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, Arts Council England and the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Recent figures show a decline in private investment and philanthropy so this new scheme will hopefully bolster the linchpins of British culture, including museums, artists, opera, theatre and much more.
