Project Canvas starts creative agency search

Project Canvas, the planned UK on-demand web TV service, has begun searching for a creative agency, it has emerged.

The service intends to approach firms if it receives the go-ahead from regulators, news that may interest those in creative jobs.

"If Project Canvas is approved, a venture would be formed that would, among other things, own and market a consumer brand," a spokesperson for the initiative was quoted by Campaign as saying.

The representative added that it would be looking to "speak formally to a range of agencies" if that were to be the case.

Channel 4, Five, the BBC, ITV, BT and TalkTalk are all involved in the venture, which aims to offer consumers on-demand content streamed over the internet to televisions via a set-top box, which are anticipated to be on sale by the end of the year.

It has allocated around £50 million for marketing and brand development over the next four years, some of which would be used by the successful agency to pay for advertising campaigns.ADNFCR-2176-ID-19584364-ADNFCR
