Sainsbury's set for digital advertising review

Sainsbury's is in the process of reviewing its digital advertising account and is planning to meet various agencies, according to a report in Campaign.

It revealed that digital, advertising and direct marketing shops have been earmarked by the supermarket chain.

The brief relates to the organisation's entire digital communications strategy.

Sainsbury's current digital advertising account is held by Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, which will also take part in the meetings.

In addition, AKQA's current control over the chain's e-commerce and web-build business will be unaffected.

Previously, AKQA has been involved in digital communications projects for the client, including text messages that were sent to consumers to give reminders about bringing their own bags.

The report states that it is unclear whether the incumbent agency will pitch for Sainsbury's new digital account.
