Sales surge at H&M

Sales at high street fashion retailer H&M rose eight per cent year-on-year during April, the firm has revealed.

The clothing chain reversed eight months of decreasing sales last month, with total transactions at stores that have been open for at least one financial year rising 19 per cent, something that may be of interest to those working in the fashion and retail sector.

Last week's launch of a new collection by Matthew Williamson may have helped the strong sales in H&M stores, with the designer producing his first-ever menswear collection for the firm, along with a number of women's styles.

"I love the fact that H&M have created a new phenomenon in fashion," Williamson stated, adding that the company has been "pioneering" the concept of limited edition clothing collections.
