Skinny jeans 'one of the trends of the decade'

23 Dec
Skinny jeans and 'it' bags were two of the fashion trends that have defined the decade.

This is according to Belinda White of handbag.com, who said that the former were one of the biggest hits on the high street over the past ten years.

"I never thought we'd give up those boot-cuts but there's been no looking back since," she remarked, adding that there was a "new raft" of must-have handbags every season, with notable favourites including designs by Chloe and Marc Jacobs.

However, the decade has also brought a number of fashion disasters, Ms White observed, citing Ugg boots as a "symbol of naffness" due to the fact that they have been ripped off by a number of high street and "bargain basement" stores.

The fashion industry in the UK has been largely resilient during the economic crisis, as research from Mintel revealed earlier this year that average spending on clothes per head during 2008 was £656 - more than in France, Italy and the US.ADNFCR-2176-ID-19527298-ADNFCR
