Telefonica 'to appoint Ketchum to global PR account'

11 Dec
Ketchum is set to be appointed to handle the global PR account for Spanish telecommunications company Telefonica, it has emerged.

According to PR Week, the agency has been chosen after a pitching process that lasted eight months and will be responsible for boosting the awareness of the firm across its domestic market and in Latin America.

This is said to be a key part of the strategy of the company, which owns the O2 network in the UK and has also been considering acquisitions in Germany and Brazil this year.

Ketchum secured the seven-figure account after winning a final round of pitches that included Burson-Marsteller and the move comes after Telefonica made changes to how it handles its brand last month.

This resulted in O2 beginning a search for a new agency to oversee its digital marketing, with the network appointing incumbent Agency Republic to repitch for the account.ADNFCR-2176-ID-19507646-ADNFCR
