Television and online marketing 'to become closer'

The link between television and online marketing is likely to become closer as firms look to consolidate their activities on the two channels.

This is according to new media specialist for PricewaterhouseCoopers Eva Berg-Winters, who noted that online firms are expanding their advertising onto television, while large media companies also want to "move some of their spend online".

"With both being such strong advertising channels, it's not surprising that one advertises on the other," she remarked.

Google is one such firm that is embracing television marketing, having recently run an advertisement during the Superbowl in the US.

Ms Berg-Winters said that those in online marketing jobs could soon find themselves producing television campaigns as well, as the two mediums "will soon become hard to distinguish".

She was commenting following the release of figures from Nielsen Media Research, which revealed that television advertising accounts for 71.5 per cent of marketing investment from online brands.ADNFCR-2176-ID-19627789-ADNFCR
