Job description This is an exciting opportunity for a Lead or Senior Designer with excellent experience of data visualisation and designing infographics to work in-house for one of the UK's largest and most innovative research agencies. You will be part of a busy and growing design team, producing engaging and meaningful design outputs that clearly communicate the research. The variety of work includes; presentations, brochures, info-graphics, interactive online reporting, videos, pitch materials / prototypes, leave-behinds and animations. Not only will you work internally, but there is the opportunity to liaise directly with an enviable portfolio of high profile clients.

The successful candidate will be working alongside the Creative Director and a company wide team of 13 designers, helping steer the creative output and conceptual designs and ideas.

The role of the Lead Designer is to develop conceptual, creative, high-end solutions for the business and our clients. They will identify and deliver innovative ways to engage clients and the external market through strong design, data visualisation and story-telling, turning business challenges and data narratives into compelling and conceptually sound creative outputs. The Lead Designer will champion our brand, creatively deliver to client briefs (both internal and external) and will seek inspiration from trends in the external market. They will also mentor and develop conceptual design skills across the wider team, providing an inspiring environment in which to produce impactful creative solutions.


*** Responsibilities: ***

-Takes the lead on the conceptual/visual element of the big pitch process - translating business challenges into inspiring big ideas and accompanying visual narratives and showcasing our design by spearheading the creative elements of many of our biggest pitches
-Drives design projects from inception through to completion - including info-graphics & data visualisation (both on- and offline), reports and editorial design
-Inspires team members to challenge themselves and imparts expert knowledge to up-skill others across the organisation
-Champions data visualisation across the organisation, seeking ways to scale the production of creative deliverables as well as creating inspiring, bespoke projects
-Takes the lead in ensuring all marketing outputs across the organisation are on brand, deliver to brief and optimised from a creative perspective
-Recommends optimal ways of working to drive efficiency's in the way projects are managed
-Leads on the identification of trends in the industry that could enhance our design capabilities
-Line management responsibility for a designer
-Demonstrates an awareness of the commercial context in which design operates within the organisation
-Reviews, recommends and maintains relationships with suppliers, negotiating and driving value
-Partners with stakeholders from across the business

***Skills and Experience Required:***

-Exceptional design skills, displays original and creative ideas, with proven examples applied in a business-to-business context
-Knowledge and experience of layout design, graphic design fundamentals and typography
-Highly organised and passionate about data, design and digital innovation in the design industry
-Demonstrates an infectious enthusiasm on the subject of design, with the credibility of being an expert in their field
-The ability to keep cool under pressure, be a soothing balm to sometimes stressed senior stakeholders and deliver to demanding deadlines
-Able to understand complex briefs and creatively articulate these in engaging and creative concepts and narratives
-Strong understanding of brand and the ability to work creatively within brand guidelines
-Excellent attention to detail and takes pride in their work
-Professional, works autonomously, with minimum supervision
-Confident in presenting creative concepts in face-to-face meetings with the client
-Flexible with a strong ability to multi-task and prioritise, coping with the demands of a busy central team
-Excellent communication skills on all levels
-Extremely client-focused, with an enthusiastic and positive attitude as well as excellent people skills


***Qualifications & Technical Skills Required:***

-Excellent working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite - In Design, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat
-A good knowledge of PowerPoint is essential, including animation and video
-Skills in the other Adobe Creative programs would be advantageous (After Effects, Premiere Pro, Dreamweaver, Muse)
-Must be a competent user of Microsoft office, word, excel, and outlook
-An understanding of filming and photography would be beneficial
-Working knowledge of UI design and tools for digital data visualisation
-A strong working knowledge of print and digital design required to liaise with printers and web developers alike
-A good understanding of maths and data, and experience in articulating this visually would be advantageous
-Proven experience in a creative lead role, with strong experience in delivering high-end concepts and creative direction in a fast paced studio environment
