The UK's advertising market will return to growth in the third quarter of 2010, a new report has concluded.

Research conducted by the Advertising Association and Warc has predicted that while total advertising revenues will fall by 3.8 per cent in the first quarter of this year and 0.8 per cent in the second, July to September will bring 2.8 per cent growth.

This, the study said, would end nine successive quarters of contraction in the industry, something that may be welcomed by those looking for marketing jobs.

Statistics collected by the two bodies also showed that revenue levels fell by 13.3 per cent in the third quarter of last year, with this figure expected to have eased to 5.2 per cent in the last three months.

"The underlying data show not just the painful recession effect overall, but the dynamic reshaping of the UK advertising landscape," remarked chief executive of the Advertising Association Tim Lefroy.

Last month, digital media specialist for PricewaterhouseCoopers Eva Berg-Winters predicted that there are some "tremendous" changes on the way for advertising, including the growth of mobile marketing.
